RWE buys into electric cars
The energy group RWE AG is getting into the market for electric cars and support the automaker Daimler in tests with the electric version of the Smart small car. The company has adopted a partnership with ADAC. The Traffic Club will analyze the RWE-vehicle fleet in terms of environmental friendliness. Germany's capital Berlin will be testing the testing ground for hundreds of electric Smart cars with Daimler, RWE. In the Ruhr area charging stations are built, taking the first in M眉hlheim in the local ADAC office.
According to RWE chief executive Juergen Grossmann over "World Online" (11/05/2009) 90 percent of car drivers would go every day not more than 100 miles. On short distances, the electric car have great advantages and therefore it is, according to the energy company but close to the cars of the future will be powered with electricity. The goal of the electricity supplier is a viable alternative to the internal combustion engine. It should be able to afford, according to Grossman every driver an electric car.
The electric cars are gaining in importance in coming years and will replace today's cars slowly but surely. The high cost and limited range, however, must be solved before in the electric vehicles.
